A common man may come up with an innovative idea or a renowned person can give shape to common ideas. Here is a story of an IITian and an MBA graduate from Howard university who came up with an innovative idea of selling tea and snacks online which lead to the formation of Chai Point and only reason behind Chai Point Success.

AMULEEK SINGH BIJRAL,founder, and CEO of Mountain Trail Foods Pvt. Ltd. is an MBA graduate from Harvard Business School.He was the son of an IPS officer and was born in Baramulla ,Jammu Kashmir. He pursued electrical engineer in Punjab and after completion, he got placed in TCS. Then he worked as a developer for Microsoft in Hyderabad. Then he got the chance to pursue MBA at Harvard University.After his MBA he came back to India and started his own business and founded Mountain Trail Foods Pvt. Ltd. He didn’t opt for any high salary job from the corporate world , cause he had his own dream of doing a different thing in service of mankind.


In this logical world people meet and share their thoughts over a cup of tea and tea is the most prevalent refreshing beverage in India. So he and his team came up with a vision that”India runs on chai” and it gave rise to the concept of CHAI POINT. He first established his business in Noida and Bengaluru in 2010.He launched CHAI POINT in DLF mall, Sector-18, Noida. He set up his business in Noida and Bengaluru in 2010. They collect about 6.5-ton tea leaves per month from Assam, Darjeeling, Nilgiri , 2.5 lakh liters of milk and sell about 1.6 lakh of tea every day. Saama Capital has invested 12 crores in the CHAI POINT and they are looking forward to more financial investment of 80-100 crores in order to expand their business in the major cities like Mumbai, Chennai , Hyderabad , Pune.

Since  the mission kept its first step has witnessed gradual success. In 2010 they opened their first store and their success journey started.By 2011 they reached up to their 10th store. In the same year, they launched their coupon program and they celebrated the joy of selling 1 millionth cup. In 2012 they opened their first 24*7 store in Bangalore International Airport and also opened their store in Delhi. They introduced Masala Chai biscuit and Vada Pao which is considered as the best-suited combination with tea.


Professor  Tarun Khanna is the investor in CHAI POINT .He is  the Jorge Paulo Lemann Professor at the Harvard Business School who has a sound experience of working with multinational companies.He was named Harvard University’s Director of the South Asia Initiative in the fall of 2010. He is from an engineering background and got his degree from Princeton University and did Ph.D. at Harvard University.Tejus Chandra, a graduate from IIM, Bengaluru and also a chartered accountant is the CFO of Mountain Trail  Foods. Sandesh C. is the COO who is also a graduate from IIM and has also worked with Bain &company. Yaduvir Singh who has done his professional course from IIT Delhi is the head of the supply chain. Mr. Viveck Crisna who retired as the MD of J Thomas & Co P Ltd – the world’s oldest tea auctioning company is now  playing the role of adviser for CHAI POINT. Amit Arora is the lead of product management who has a working experience with Cafe Coffee Day, Dominos , The Taj group. He has received the degree of Hotel management from National Council for Hotel Management India.
